WHAT IS PASHMINA?
Pashmina is one of the jewels of India to designate pure royalty and luxury. Pashmina is a fine variant of spun yarn obtained from the downy undercoat of the Changthangi goats, found in the Himalayan region of Kashmir and Ladakh region of India. Pashmina is the softest, lightest and warmest natural fabric available on earth. The thickness of Pashmina fibre is between 10–15 microns which are almost 1/6 of human hair (75 microns). Original Pashmina is so delicate that it can be processed through hands-only, not by machines. A goat produces only 80–170 grams (3–6 ounce) of wool in a year.
The origin of pashmina dates back to ancient civilization. Pashmina is a fabric that only the richest in the land were able to afford, which is why rulers and kings wore in those days. Woven from pashmina wool have been adored for centuries in the Far East. Pashmina has long been admired in Asia and the Middle East and today it is becoming just as admired in the West, due to the great qualities it possesses.
